Early Andreas Voit Papier Mache Pauline Doll

Rare antique German half doll, made by Andreas Voit ca 1840-1855, so called Pauline-Type. No marks. The doll stands ca. 14" (36 cm) tall. Her head with shoulder plate is made of papier mache. Glass fixed eyes. Open mouth with teeth. She has wooden arms and a cloth body. No feet, see picture, instead of legs there is a wooden stand. The doll depicts the Catholic Saint Madonna, an example of monastic work. Her robe is made of silk and velvet, richly embroidered with gold metallic stitching. There is a halo above the head, a cross on the chest, strings of beads, and a rosary.
