Rare antique German bisque head doll made by Carl Bergner ca. 1900. Her bisque head is made by Simon & Halbig. Bisque head has two faces – a crying face and a smiling face. The doll stands ca. 14" (36 cm) tall. Her bisque head is free of damage or repair, no cracks, chips or restoration.
It is possible to rotate her head and choose what mood she will be in. Both faces have fixed brown glass eyes. The smiling face has an open closed mouth with molded teeth. The head is enclosed within an original paper mache hood. The head is attached to a composition shoulderhead. Her mohair wig is glued to the hood.
The doll has a cloth body in good condition with composition lower arms and lower legs. The body is stamped with a patent number "243752". There is a non functioning voice box in her torso. Her body has some areas of age-related wear and some repair.
This rare doll wears antique clothing, a christening gown, an apron, knitted shoes.
