Antique wax over composition doll made ca. 1870-1880. The doll stands ca. 16.5" (42 cm) tall. Her composition head and shoulder plate are covered with hard wax. Very fine facial features. The wax is in good condition with some areas of age-related wear. Blue glass eyes with fully operational eyes mechanism and original lid paint. Mohair wig. Her pate is marked "VI".The doll has a nice leather body that is in good condition. Bisque lower arms with no damage or repair. The doll wears antique clothing, a cute cotton dress and a hat. Cotton underclothes, silk shoes.
