Mechanical Walking Pug Dog Automaton by Roullet et Decamps, France, ca. 1890

Very rare antique keywind dog by Roullet et Decamps, France, ca. 1890. When keywound at side of his torso, the mechanical dog walks along on his legs and moves his head slightly from side to side. Roullet & Decamps was a French toy manufacturing company operating in the 19th and 20th centuries, which specialized in production of automata, including series of mechanical animals. The dog is in very good condition. His paper mache body is covered with sueded skin. Glass eyes, leather ears. With wheeled feet and fully operational key wind mechanism. Key included. He has his leather metal studded harness and an original leather and metal collar with a name's tag. There is an on/off lever under his belly so you can turn him off and on. The dog measures 6.7" (17 cm) long and 6.7" (17 cm) tall.
