Konig & Wernicke
Antique German character doll made by Konig & Wernicke ca. 1915-1920. The doll stands ca. 17.5" (44 cm) tall. His bisque head doll is made by Bahr & Proschild. His bisque head is free of damage or repair, no cracks, chips or restoration. The head is marked "K & W 7". Glass sleep eyes with fully operational eye mechanism and original lid paint. He has lost some of his original eyelashes. Open mouth with 2 teeth. Antique human hair wig, maybe original. Wood and composition toddler body in very good condition. This cute little boy wears old clothing, cotton underclothes, silk shirt, velvet pants, suede beret hat. Antique shoes. The doll has a school bag satchel and a school cone. (It is a tradition in Germany when children set off for their first day in school upon entering first grade, their parents present them with a big cardboard cone, decorated and filled with toys, chocolate, school supplies, and other goodies.)
