Antique German doll, made between 1870 and 1880 at one of the many Sonneberg factories in Thuringia, Sonneberg. No marks. The doll stands ca. 18" (46 cm) tall. The doll's head with shoulder plate, arms, and legs are made of pressed wood-pulp composition. The head is covered with a layer of wax. The doll has brown glass fixed eyes. An original mohair wig, which is glued to her head. The body is made of tightly stuffed fabric and is in good condition.
All the clothing on this beautiful doll is antique and possibly original. She wears a fine batiste dress with lace, a complete set of undergarments, vintage leather shoes, and an old straw hat decorated with flowers.
