Antique German Bisque Head Doll Bruno Schmidt 2033 Wendy
Very rare antique German doll, manufactured by Bruno Schmidt around 1912. The doll stands ca. 14.4" (36 cm) tall. The head with extreme character modeling is marked "2033 537".
The advantages of this model include its special unusual beauty with a characteristic sculpture, especially of the nose and mouth, all this is emphasized by the highest quality of biscuit porcelain. The model became known as "Wendy" after she appeared on the cover of Madeleine Selfridge's early Wendy and Friends doll book. The bisque head of the doll produced in the Baehr & Proeschild factory and is free of damage or repair, no cracks, chips or restoration. The doll has glass eyes with a sleeping mechanism, a closed mouth. Antique mohair wig, possibly original. The body of the doll is in very good condition. Clothes are old, a two-piece suit made of antique materials, cotton . underclothes, antique leather shoes.
